Caterpillar Introduces New Attachments for Backhoe Loaders and Small Excavators

Caterpillar, a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, recently unveiled a range of new hydraulic attachments for backhoe loaders and small excavators. The new products were showcased at the ConExpo-Con/Agg 2023 event and are designed to enhance the adaptability of these machines in various applications.

Multipurpose Grapples for Cat Tiltrotators

One of the new hydraulic attachments introduced by Caterpillar is the multipurpose grapple, which is also known as a bypass grapple. The G206 and G208 models are designed to work with Cat tiltrotators and offer a high level of flexibility in material handling. These grapples have a maximum closing force of 14.5 kN and 18.4 kN, respectively, and are suitable for 5- to 10-ton compact hydraulic excavators.

The G206/G208 grapples are installed on the underside of TRS6 or TRS8 models and are ideal for landscaping or hardscaping contractors. The load-holding valve and hard-mounted piston accumulator maintain the grapple arm closing forces, ensuring smooth and efficient operation. The grapple also features oversized bushings with harder edges and optimal routing of jumper lines and hoses for long-term durability.

Demolition and Sorting Grapples

Caterpillar also introduced the G306/G308 demolition and sorting grapples, which are designed for heavy-duty material handling, recycling, and waste management. These grapples have a spinning head and 360-degree bidirectional rotation, controlled by the second auxiliary function of the machine. The G306 and G308 models are suitable for 5- to 6-ton and 7- to 10-ton micro hydraulic excavators, respectively.

Cold Planers and Vibratory Compactor Plates

In addition to the multipurpose and demolition/sorting grapples, Caterpillar also unveiled cold planers and vibratory compactor plates. The cold planers are designed for milling asphalt and concrete surfaces, while the vibratory compactor plates are ideal for compacting granular soils, hot or cold asphalt, and paving stones.

Multifunctional Grapples

Caterpillar’s new multifunctional grapples are designed to work with Cat tiltrotators and offer a range of options for material handling. These grapples have a rigid or rotating body and are suitable for various applications, such as demolition, sorting, and waste management. The multifunctional grapples are available in different sizes and configurations to suit different excavators.
