In the past few months, some high-profile equipment theft cases have been reported so far that have grabbed the attention of every individual out there. Not only do these theft cases increase concerns regarding equipment safety but highlight the urge to make more robust safety and security measures.
Bobcat took the step and recently made a major contribution in this regard by launching a theft control program for their equipment. The remote-control handling and shut-off process will help the contractors stay ahead of the burglary and can shut off their equipment remotely so that the stolen equipment cannot move more.
How does this remote-control system increase equipment safety?
Bobcat has tried and experimented with a latest tech in their equipment range which can enable the operators to remotely control the shutoff of their equipment. It is a unique two-way communication system which can be managed by the user dashboard in the mobile application. When the equipment is out of range, the application alerts the owner and then he can shut off the engine through the app. This way, the culprits won’t be able to drive the equipment.
Bobcat’s Director of Digital Product Management, Garrett Maurer, highlights the significance of this function by saying,
“Our Machine IQ users’ peace of mind is greatly enhanced by advanced theft prevention. Remote Engine Disable/Enable allows our customers in North America and Europe to safeguard their equipment and guarantee that it is only used for permitted purposes.”
How to use the remote engine enable/disable feature?
Although, this enable/disable system has been available since 2019 but hasn’t been experimented with to integrate into heavy equipment. However, Bobcat users can now enjoy this feature even in their used heavy equipment for sale and increase the resale value up to the maximum possibility.
Owners of machinery may already keep an eye on a number of aspects of their equipment, such as performance, security, maintenance, and health. Users may protect their equipment from unwanted use by being proactive and installing the latest updates.
Equipment owners can find their equipment by logging into the Machine IQ app or the Bobcat Owner Portal if they suspect illegal activity. Once located, they can give the command to turn off the engine through the Machine IQ app. The engine cannot be restarted without the necessary authority once it has been disabled, according to the system. When the instruction is provided and the machine is running, the engine will gradually slow down until it is almost at a complete stop, a process known as de-rate mode.
How does two-way telematics communication benefit?
The two-way communication between the machine owner and their machine is no more than a major breakthrough in the equipment industry. The system may communicate and alert the owner about every illicit activity along with all the necessary data required to keep them maintained.
With this development, Bobcat users can:
Prevent Equipment Theft
Owners can lessen the chance of theft and stop illegal use by remotely halting the engine.
Promote Speedy Recovery
Locating and stopping the machine helps rush the process of recovering it in case of theft.
Assure Authorized Use
By limiting who is allowed to use the equipment, you can improve operational security in general.
Monitor Health and Performance
Constant data interchange makes it possible to track the health and performance of machines in real-time, which promotes preventative maintenance and lower downtime.
Two Cents
The Remote Engine Disable/Enable feature that Bobcat introduced is a big improvement in equipment security and administration. Bobcat has improved the operational control and security of their machines with two-way telematics connectivity, offering users supreme productivity and peace of mind. Bobcat is at the forefront of technological advancements, constantly coming up with new ideas to enable its clients to get more out of their equipment.
