In the last few months, Mexico has been tagged as the growing and most demanding land for the construction industry.
The increasing construction and infrastructure projects and residential building development have grabbed the attention of many equipment manufacturers.
John Deere took the situation as an opportunity and decided to open its manufacturing plant in Mexico with an investment of $55 million.
The new facility is likely to begin production by 2026 and will specialize in producing small wheel loaders and track loaders.
Deere’s plan is a mere example of its dedication and promise to provide quality under budget.
Why Mexico?
Mexico is a market with a lot of potential, which is why John Deere is interested in it.
Since 2022, the construction equipment market in Mexico has grown by an amazing 76%, which has made every OEM invest in this land.
John Deere is actively positioned itself to fulfil the growing demand, demonstrating that this expansion has not gone overlooked.
The divisional sales manager of John Deere in Mexico said that the company is interested in growing its dealership and position in the unexplored and new market. Whereas, the entire company and its leadership are optimistic about this new investment plan.
Does John Deere already operate in Mexico?
John Deere’s plan to open a manufacturing plant in Mexico is not new. Many people out there in the market do not know that Deere is already present in the Mexico market with a strong position. Hence, this is not the first time Deere has taken the Mexico demand as an opportunity.
The company operates 4 facilities at different locations in Mexico, dedicated to producing variable products including machinery and spare parts.
Monterrey
This facility manages the production of components, and small skid steer loaders, and is a hub for engineering technologies.
Ramos Arizpe
This facility focuses on tractor-mounted loaders, operator stations, components and hydraulic cylinders. This is another successful plant being operated in Mexico.
Saltillo
Agriculture tractors, transmission axles, and similar components are the specialty of this facility and manage the distribution of these items as well.
Torreon
Another successful plant producing the engines, electronics, and axles, provided further business to the company and the region.
The Consequences of John Deere’s New Plant
People are curious this time about how will this new facility impact John Deere’s position in the market. Will it continue to grow or has to face some decline in sales?
However, this Nuevo Leon plant will further solidify the position of Deere in the construction equipment market.
The company is preparing to meet regional demands while lowering dependency on imports by manufacturing micro wheel loaders and mini track loaders locally.
This move is consistent with John Deere’s previous decision to move the manufacturing of compact track loaders and midsize skid steers from Dubuque, Iowa, to Ramos, Mexico.
Both initiatives, which are scheduled to start in 2026, are part of a larger plan to localize production and maintain competitiveness in a market that is expanding quickly.
As soon as the operation starts, the business horizon of Deere will expand immensely and will open another chapter of success in its history.
